Professional Experience: Nick & Joan owned and operated their own business for over 25 years. They worked in clay producing one of a kind and functional stoneware pottery. They now enjoy it as a pastime still working in their fantastic studio overlooking the San Juans and Spring Canyon.
They know how to get the job done.
Education: Broker Associates
Outside Interests: We love Colorado living. Golf, hiking and wildlife.
Personal Information: Nick and Joan moved to Montrose from Evergreen, CO in 1990 having fallen in love with the Western Slope area when in earlier years at Western State College in Gunnison. Nick graduated with an Art Education degree and taught in Jefferson Co. public schools for 3 years, Joan graduated with a degree in Recreation. They took a leap of faith and dove into pottery as a full- time occupation and have enjoyed a successful pottery business working together as studio potters for almost 30 years! They still maintain their studio (where they continue to get their hands in the clay and teach classes), which is in an awesome setting overlooking Spring Canyon, inspired by the wonderful views, the abundance of wildlife and the regular sighting of soaring golden eagles which nest on their property. The Zappas are also avid golfers and enjoy playing year- round golf in Montrose.
Nick has extensive experience in home building as he worked with his father (as a young man for 10 years during the summers), who was a custom builder and owner of Zappa Homes in the Denver area. He also has experience in minor subdivisions, special use applications, building, purchasing, and selling property in Montrose County.
The Zappas work well as a team; let them work for you!!
